Presentation to Linda at the Uxbridge Arms
On 26th October, the branch gave a presentation to Linda Lawton, landlady of the Uxbridge Arms shortly before she left after 23 years at the pub. The award was given in recognition of her dedication over many years to great beer, great service and a great pub! The pub is a welcoming and comfortable back-street local. The presentation of the certificate was given by our branch chairman Les Maggs.
After a couple of pints at the Uxbridge we then hopped on the tube at the nearby Notting Hill Gate station up to Earls Court where we continued with the scheduled survey crawl in that area. We went to the Prince of Teck and Earls Court Tavern.
Star Tavern Beer Festival
Thanks to Bill for sending in this picture from the Star Tavern Beer Festival which was on during the 5th till the 9th October. He was there with branch social secretary Alasdair Boyd, who can be seen at the bar. The Star Tavern is on Belgrave Mews West in Belgravia (see map).
Beers from London breweries were available as part of the festival, including Moncada from our own branch area. The pub's regular selection of Fuller's beers (also from our branch area) on handpump were also available.
The following festival beers on stillage were available:
- Gipsy Hill Brewing Company: Beatnik, and Southpaw
- Moncada Brewery: Notting Hill Blonde
- Sambrooks Brewery: Junction, and Powerhouse Porter
