Here's an update on the latest news and information from West London branch of CAMRA.

September 2025

  • Tuesday 23rd: The Lions of St James's Social – too many Red Lions? We start in the one in the Pall Mall to King St arcade and end up in the Fuller’s one off Jermyn Street.
    • 2.00pm Red Lion (23 Crown Passage, SW1Y 6PP)
    • 3.00pm Golden Lion (25 King Street, SW1Y 6QY)
    • 3.45pm Red Lion (2 Duke of York Street, SW1Y 6JP)

 

October 2025

  • Tues 7 (7pm) Westminster social, meet White Horse and Bower, 86 Horseferry Rd, SW1P 2EE, then (8pm) Barley Mow, 104 Horseferry Rd SW1P 2EE and (9pm) Speaker, 46 Great Peter St. SW1P 2HA.
  • Mon 20 (2.30pm) Paddington Basin social, Sir Alexander Fleming, Merchant Sq, Paddington, W2 1AS.

 

November 2025

  • Tue 4 (3pm) Covent Garden social, meet Nags Head, 10 James St, WC2E 8BT then (4pm) White Lion, 24 James St. WC2E 8NT and (5pm) The Bull and Egret, 81-82 Long Acre WC2E 9NG.
  • Wed 12 (7/7.30pm) Branch Meeting, Antelope (upstairs), 22-24 Eaton Terrace, SW1W 8EZ. (This will be our first meeting to select the Good Beer Guide 2027 entries).
  • Tue 18 (2.30pm) West Brompton social, meet Lillie Langtry, 19 Lillie Road SW6 1UE.

 

December 2025

    • Tue 30 Sep (2.30pm to 9pm) North London branch Good Beer Guide launch, Duke (Back Room), 7 Roger Street, Bloomsbury, WC1N 2PB (copies for members at discounted price).
    • Sat 11 Oct (1pm) Richmond & Hounslow branch Tap Rooms by Train: Thames Side Brewery (1 Hale Street, Staines, Surrey, TW18 4UW) to meet the owner who will give a talk on the brewery followed by some samples of their beers – first half pint included. Then on to Windsor and Eton Brewery (1-4 Vansittart Estate, Duke Street, Windsor SL4 1SE) where at 4pm we will have another talk on the brewery and the opportunity to try some beers – first half pint again included!
  • Wed 24 to Sat 27 Sep: St. Albans Beer & Cider Festival, Alban Arena, Civic Centre, St Albans, AL1 3LD (just off St Peters Street in the City Centre).

  • .NW8, NEW INN (Guntas Management Ltd/Pataka Ltd/independent), 2 Allitsen Road, NW8 6LA. Reopened.

  • SW1, GANYMEDE (Westminster City Council/Lunar Pub Company Ltd), 139 Ebury Street, SW1W 9QU. Closed for refurb. To reopen as The Elizabeth in Sept 2025

  • SW1, TATTERSHALL CASTLE (Stonegate), King's Reach Victoria Embankment, SW1A 2HR. Another Stonegate bar not accepting CAMRA vouchers.

  • SW1, WONDERVILLE (Crown Estates), 57-60 Haymarket, SW1Y 4QX. Closure is actually for building redevelopment.

  • SW3, PIG'S EAR (FL & Son LLP/Coco Otto Ltd/independent), 35 Old Church Street, SW3 5BS. Now Cask Marque accredited.

  • SW6, MCGETTIGAN'S (HPUT A Ltd/Stonegate/independent), 1 The Broadway, SW6 1AA. Reopened as CLUBHOUSE.

  • SW6, WALHAM GREEN (London Underground/Wetherspoon/Wetherspoon), 472 Fulham Road, SW6 1BY. Now Cask Marque accredited.

  • W1, COYOTE UGLY SALOON (unknown/unknown/Coyote Ugly), 30 Shaftesbury Avenue, W1D 7EP. Closed future uncertain.

  • W1, MARLBOROUGH HEAD (Grosvenor Estate), 24 North Audley Street, W1K 6WD. Due to reopen in early October 2025 by Carl McCluskey of Chancellor's pub Hammersmith, and Crisp Pizza fame.

  • W2, FOUNTAINS ABBEY (Greene King), 109 Praed Street, W2 1RL. Reopened following refurb.

  • W2, KUPP (Canal & River Trust), Unit 53, 5 Merchant Square, W2 1AS. To reopen as SIR ALEXANDER FLEMING scheduled for 30 Sept. 2025.

  • W6, CHANCELLORS (Stonegate/individual/independent), 25 Crisp Road, W6 9RL. No cask beer for some time.

  • W6, HAMMERSMITH BELLE (Heineken/Belle Pubs & Restaurants), 227 King Street, W6 9JT. Cask ale intermittent to non-existent.

  • W10, EAGLE (Stonegate), 250 Ladbroke Grove, W10 5LP. Under new tenanted management July 2025.

  • W11, QUIET NIGHT INN (Max Barney Pub Company/Forest Road Quiet Night Inn Ltd/Forest Road Brewery), 60 Great Western Road, W11 1AB. Closed as the rescue plan for Forest Road Brewery did not include the pub

  • W12, BREWDOG SHEPHERDS BUSH (unknown/BrewDog/BrewDog), 15-19 Goldhawk Road, W12 8QQ. Closed along with 10 other of the chain’s bars across the country,

  • W12, ORCHARD TAVERN (Heineken UK/Red Sun Bars Ltd/Red Sun Bars), 136 Askew Road, W12 9BP. Is part of the All Our Bars chain.

  • WC2, DALY'S WINE BAR (Arubu Properties Ltd/Young's), 210 Strand, WC2R 1AP. Closed temporarily for integration works with ex Temple Brew House.

  • WC2, FREEMASONS ARMS (Aldrich Inns), 81-82 Long Acre, WC2E 9NG. Renamed the BULL & EGRET by new owner 202 Pub Co Ltd (ex Aldrich Inns). Only one cask ale was available on the six handpumps (from Theakstons) but the venue hopes to put more on soon.

  • WC2, LOWLANDER (Brighton Pier Group), 36 Drury Lane, WC2B 5RR. Formerly a continental cafe-bar specialising in Belgian & Flemish beers, in summer 2025 this became a traditional pub named MARLBOROUGH HEAD and run by Urban Pubs & Bars. Two cask ales reported on offer, from East London Brewing Co; plus keg beers including from Two Tribes, Siren and Gipsy Hill.

  • WC2, MARQUESS OF ANGLESEY (Young's), 39 Bow Street, WC2E 7AU. A Sandford cider was available here in August.

  • WC2, NELL GWYNNE (Young's), 1-2 Bull Inn Court, WC2R 0NP. A Sandford cider was available here in August.

  • WC2, SIMMONS TEMPLE (Aldwych Street Light Ltd), 1 Milford Lane, WC2R 3LL. Another of the chain closed due to restructuring.

  • WC2, TEMPLE BREW HOUSE (Arubu Properties Ltd/Young'), 46 Essex St, WC2R 3JF. This venue is being refurbed and will be integrated with Daly's upstairs. Reopening Sept 2025. - now open.
