Here's an update on the latest news and information from West London branch of CAMRA for April 2018. Further news can be found in the new April/May edition of London Drinker. Updates since the beginning of the month are marked '[NEW]'.
Branch events
- The branch meeting for April is on Monday 16th April at 7pm for 7.30 at Sir John Balcombe, 21 Balcombe Street, Marylebone, NW1 6HE. The pub offers a CAMRA discount on real ale, so remember your membership card!
- The West London CAMRA Pub of the Year presentation at the Harp is to be held on Wednesday 18th April at 7pm. The Harp also has a CAMRA discount!
- [NEW]: The third place presentation for the West London CAMRA Pub of the Year is to be held on Wednesday 2 May from 7pm at the Churchill Arms, 119 Kensington Church Street, W8 7LN (nearest tube Notting Hill Gate). All welcome.
- [NEW]: The second place presentation for the West London CAMRA Pub of the Year is to be held on Tuesday 15 May from 7pm at the Cask Pub & Kitchen, 6 Charlwood Street, SW1V 2EE (nearest tubes Pimlico, Victoria). All welcome.
- The branch AGM (annual general meeting) will be held on Tuesday 22 May at the Defector's Weld (upstairs), 170 Uxbridge Road, Shepherds Bush, W12 8AA.
Other CAMRA events
- The national CAMRA National Weekend, Conference and AGM is on 20-22 April in Coventry. All CAMRA members are welcome to attend.
- CAMRA's London Pubs Group will be having their next crawl of historic pubs on 25th April in Belsize Park and Kentish Town. See the London Pubs Group website for details.
- The Great British Beer Festival 2018 will be held at Olympia in West Kensington on 7 to 11 August. Advanced tickets and full details are now available from the GBBF website.
Branch and regional CAMRA news
- The West London CAMRA Pub of the Year has been announced! First place was the Harp, WC2. Second place was the Cask Pub & Kitchen, SW1. Third place was the Churchill Arms, W8. We'll be holding presentations at each of the pubs.
- The April/May issue of London Drinker is now out in pubs across London and online with all the latest news about pubs, CAMRA and beer related events.
Pub news
- The Swan in Bayswater reopened on Friday 2nd March, following a refurbishment.
- The Victoria, Paddington has reopened following a refurbishment.
- The Old Suffolk Punch in Hammersmith reopened on 20th March and is now run by West Berkshire Brewery.
- [UPDATED] The Truscott Arms in Maida Vale is expected to reopen in May [new date], with a new name The Hero of Maida.
National CAMRA news
- CAMRA members should not forget to vote to have their say about the future of CAMRA with the proposed Revitalisation Project changes, and to vote for your preferred candidates for the National Executive. Votes must be received by midnight on 18th April. You should have received a booklet about the proposals and a voting form with your copy of What's Brewing, and you should have also received an email from CAMRA HQ with a link to vote online (if you provided an email address to CAMRA when you joined or subsequently).
